2018 Grantchester Charity Runs: ACT

The 2018 the Grantchester Charity Runs Charity is again teaming up with the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT). This year’s challenge is to raise funds for the Liver Profusion Machine campaign which is a revolutionary device for storing donated livers for extended periods of time. The machine can also assess donated livers for their suitability for transplant. This will enable more and safer transplants to take place, saving many more lives. The cost is £280k and it will be the first such installation in the UK.

This is particular apt as 2018 is the 50th anniversary of first liver transplant in Europe which took place at Addenbrooke’s here in Cambridge. The machine would be first in the UK and will change a lot a lot of lives as more transplants can be done and fewer livers wasted.
